FEMA Tails and Trailers

Two years after Katrina cleaned the Gulf Coast's clock, two years after "Brownie you're doing a heck of a job", two years after the great American City of NOLA (New Orleans Louisiana) was washed away, the human remnants of that great city are still living in trailers. Let that fact stick in your head, families are making due with accommodations meant for weekend trips.

Bad as this is, it gets worse. They are being slowly poisoned by the trailers. The formaldehyde is making the residents sick and it is alleged killing some. Congress is shocked, shocked by the particulars. There bad faith of the Bush Administration is mind-boggling. It is so bad that even Republicans are offended. Wonder if the Republicans are going to pony up some money to move people out of their toxic residences?

Once again there is a story of gross callousness driven by ideological concerns. Government has failed because the Bushies don't believe in Government. This is not incompetence, this is much worse. This is set policy, policy driven by a radical ideological agenda. This is not conservatism
this is a mindless anti-government Libertarianism combined with corporate cronyism. This is the six year Bushite nightmare.

Who bears the brunt of this abandonment of government responsibility? Those who can least afford it, the poor, the old, the children. We must ask ourselves the question that was asked Joseph McCarthy "at long last, have you no sense of decency sir?" In the end we can't blame Bush he is only a symptom of our sick polity. We have to take our country back, we have to hold the entire structure to account. Most of all we have to help get out fellow citizens out of those trailers that kill. It's up to us.
