Miscarrage of Justice in OZ.

For those of you hiding under a rock, the Australian Justice system had a serious breakdown in the last month. Murphy's law and some political skulduggery made Australian law enforcement look like the Keystone Cops.

It all started with an attempt to do a little bit of Jihadi chest-thumping in the UK. After going naught for two in the car-bombing competition our Al Qaeda wanna-bes managed to do major damage to their Range Rover and themselves by crashing it into the Glasgow airport.

London got cracking and started following leads to who the perpetrators might be. One of the leads lead to Dr Mohammed Haneef. So the authorities chatted up the good Dr and then arrested him. It was then the whole sorry mess went south in a big way. One link to the terrorists after another was found to be bogus. The S.I.M. card link was bogus, the unexplained request to go to India was well explained. There were more than enough indicators that the Government of John Howard was playing fast and loose with the case to score political points. Worse yet the Howard government is still at it. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

Tying to look tough on terrorism the Howard government is looking foolish. Thank god for small favors , they have no Gitmo nor Extraordinary rendition in the land of Oz. At least the good Dr. wasn't waterboarded into "confessing" his links to Al Qaeda. Note to Mr. Howard when you find yourself in a hole, stop digging!
