Charges likely in Moscow penis-torching

MOSCOW, Aug. 22 (UPI) -- A Moscow woman who admitted to police she set her bedridden ex-husband's groin on fire could face three years in prison.

Police spokeswoman Tatyana Korolyova told The Moscow Times the incident between the unidentified couple took place on Thursday in an apartment they shared despite being divorced.

The woman said she was fed up with the man watching pornography and having affairs.

He had a fractured foot from a car accident and asked the woman to bring home a bottle of vodka, which he drank in front of the television. When he fell asleep, the woman told police she tried torching his whole body but the alcohol evaporated too quickly.

She then made a torch out of a newspaper, splashed his groin with alcohol and lit it, Korolyova said.

The man sustained first-degree burns to his lower abdomen and was hospitalized for several days. The woman could face assault charges, the report said.

"His sex organs took the heaviest blow," an unidentified nurse told the newspaper.
