Say What?!

Iraq assures Iran over US pact

Iraq has sought to ease Iranian fears over a proposed US-Iraq security deal, reassuring Tehran that the pact will not be a danger to Iran.

The pledge was made by Nuri al-Maliki, the Iraqi prime minister, during his meetings with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Iranian president, and other Iranian officials on Sunday.

Al-Maliki said that his government would not allow Iraq to become a launching pad for an attack on Iran.
