US mission to salvage N Korea deal


The chief US envoy to talks on North Korea's nuclear programme is travelling to Pyongyang in a bid to salvage a hard-won aid-for-disarmament deal.

Christopher Hill's visit, on the invitation of North Korea, follows a warning on Friday from South Korea's foreign minister that the six-nation nuclear disarmament deal "may be going back to square one".

Hill was set to arrive in Seoul on Tuesday for talks with his South Korean counterpart before travelling to the North Korean capital, the US state department said.
