Shuttle Safe And Sound At KSC

Space Shuttle Atlantis arrives back home safe and sound
posted by Robert Block on Jun 2, 2009 6:58:26 PM he space shuttle Atlantis, flying on top of NASA's specially modified 747, touched down at Kennedy Space Center at 6:54 p.m., ending its two day journey from California where it landed last week because of bad weather in Florida.

Before landing at KSC, the 747 and its precious cargo flew around the space center and down Cocoa Beach as throngs of people lined the roads to watch the spectacle. There are only eight shuttle flights left before the orbiters will be retired by the space agency to make room for the next generation of rocket ship.
